Oakie Sleeps

Phew, I’m still tired from yesterday! All that playing and all those belly rubs, it really stresses a dog out! I also showed them my new trick, and holding & waiting for a treat that’s balanced on your nose is no small task! That took a lot of energy out of me! I wanted to rip into that treat ASAP! And then mom had to stay up late to clean the place before going to bed. I got tired of waiting for her to take me out to poo & pee, so I trotted to her room, jumped on her bed, and went to sleep! HA! I’m so brave jumping on her bed while she’s home! But she was taking so long with the dishes. I figured she wouldn’t come back to her room for a while. And then I fell asleep and she caught me perched on her bed covers. Uh oh. She called me a bad dog and then gave me a hug. She’s a weird one.

I went with mom to work yesterday! I was sooo excited! She put the harness on me as if we were going for a walk, but as soon as she grabbed her purse I knew we were going someplace special and I just could NOT contain myself! I was bursting with fruit flavors of joyous joy joy joy! I hopped into the car and cried tears of happiness all the way there. When we parked, I peed and pooed (twice!) before getting inside the office. Oh boy oh boy oh boy I was excited! Then we get into her office, she sits down in front of the computer, and I’m stuck sitting next to her. Hmm, this scenario looks familiar. If I wanted to watch mom on the computer we could have just stayed home!! So now I’m all bored and whimpering because I want to go outside and play! I guess going to work with mom isn’t all that fun. Though I’d rather be with her than at home, sleeping alone.

Mommy went on vacation yesterday and left me with uncle. I’m not so good with blog-writing when she’s not here. My memory goes blank without her, so instead of telling you what I did today, I will just tell you that I miss mommy and am going to sleep on her bed until she comes home!

OMGOMGOMG! Today was the last.. the final.. the end of LOST! And can I just tell you, me and mama were in tears most of the time! So many reunions. So many rediscovered memories. I’m so happy James and Juliet are together again! And when I found out Jack’s ex-wife in the flash sideways was Juliet, both me and mama went WHOA like Neo in the Matrix. And Kate loves Jack!

This was a longgg time to sit through TV. I started watching when they showed the recaps and commentary. I had to take a nap and scratch myself a few times. And then I sat on mama’s lap and gazed into her eyes. And I watched some more LOST. And then I took another nap. But don’t worry, mama filled me in on what I missed. It worked. And Jack turned the light back on! Hooray! And then WTF they were dead all along?!?! At least they showed Vincent at the end. He’s my favorite.

Ma bought a nice ottoman three years ago that quickly became my favorite sleeping spot. I especially liked to sit at the edge and dangle my head off the side. I slept there everyday for a few hours. Well, now that ottoman you see in the photo no longer has that smooth straight cover. I squashed it and dented it out of shape. Now the area where I used to sleep is caved in and it isn’t as pretty as it used to be. Oops. And now I don’t even sleep on it anymore. I prefer mom’s bed! But don’t tell her that. She has no idea!

It was rainy and thundery this evening when mama came home. I was so scared of the thunder I didn’t even want to pee, but mom nudged me so I tinkled under the tree. But there was no way I was gonna poop! I put my tail between my legs and ran for the back door! I wouldn’t even eat my delicious dinner because I was so scared. But mom sat on the floor next to my dish and hand fed me a few bites so I’d finish the bowl. I’m glad she did that because I was honnngry! We just went out for my nightly poo, and I didn’t want to pee this time either, but I put on a brave face and did my business. But that was it.. I wanted to go back in! Mom knew I had to go #2 (because I didn’t go earlier and because I ate a big dinner!) so after we made a few circles in the backyard, I popped a squat and pooped a big poopy!!! I was so happy I was done and we went back inside the house! Now it’s sleepy time for me!

I love Sundays. Mostly because I go on long walks with mommy through the neighborhood. But today was lazy because it rained, so we stayed inside. I’m really short, so when I walk on wet sidewalk or grass, my tummy and my paws get soaking wet and mom has a hard time cleaning me before I destroy the carpet with my sogginess. So instead of going on a walk, mom let me jump on the bed and we took a nap together. It was nice until she tried to spoon me. Hey now, I’m no little spoon! I don’t like that extra affection. I’m a strange dog. I like to just lie on the bed and sprawl out with nothing in my way, including mommy! I guess I take after mama ’cause she’s like that, too. But for some reason she wanted to cuddle today, and I was having none of that! I need my personal space! But I still love you, mommy.

Sometimes when I sleep, I like to roll myself up like a burrito. I do this a lot in the winter months. It keeps me warm and toasty. Sometimes I’ll sleep in my tortilla wrap even when it’s warm outside. It makes me feel like a baby all wrapped up and cozy. But I usually break free of my burrito towel after about 10-20 minutes. I like to streeetch my legs and arch my back. It feels good on my limbs and muscles!! I also make a cute stretchy noise while I do this. I’m really cute.

Whenever mom is not home, I like to make myself comfortable on her bed even though I know I am not supposed be on it. She came home late last night, and I was mega sleepy, so when I heard the door open, I didn’t bother getting off the bed and hiding my guilt. When she walked into the room, all I did was happily greet her at the edge of the bed while wagging my tail. I was so cute she wasn’t able to yell at me! All she did was laugh and take a photo… I bet to use against me later. That’s why I didn’t make eye contact with the camera.. I can just deny it wasn’t me! She’ll never know the difference!

Happy Friday peeps and canines! I’m so glad it’s the weekend!! Not that it really makes a difference in my schedule. I sleep all day anyway, but Saturday I get to sleep in with mommy and I get to see her all (well, most) of the day!! YAY! I love mommy! She is the most beautiful person in the world!! (or that’s what she told me ;-)) I think we’ll stay up tonight and watch some TV. I can’t wait!
